    Guinness Black Lager Review

    Guinness Black Lager

Dark lager [Type 52] 4.5% ABV

I saw this beer at the store while shopping for Beer Club, and I decided to try it. I know, heresy. You can't mess with Guinness. Well, they messed with it, and I tried it. It's not bad. It isn't Guinness Stout, but it isn't supposed to be. It is lighter, but also pretty filling. I like that. One of the criteria I use to judge beer is how many I need to feel satisfied. One was actually pretty good with this beer. The beer itself is pretty dark, with a thin head as fits a lager beer.

    Rating

This beer grew on me. At first I surprised at the bitterness from the roasted barley, but overall it fits within the Guinness flavor profile. It is satisfying, but has a thinner mouthfeel than Guinness Stout, and a bit of zing on the tongue. The finish is the part that reminds me most of Guinness, the first flavor is quite unlike the mellow Stout.
