    The Uselessness of Philosophy

Sometimes I am asked what I am going to "do" with a Masters Degree in Philosophy. My usual reply is "nothing".
Classical political philosophy, in addition to Aristotle's discussion of wit and humor in Book Four of his Ethics, could be amusing. Take the question of whether philosophy itself is "useless". Of course, there are two meanings to the word "useless" -- one would be that the thing is worth nothing at all, the other that something is beyond the criterion of "use" or utility.
-James V. Schall, S. J. Roman Catholic Political Philosophy
I do "do" something with my philosophy, I offer lectures twice a year on philosophical subjects, I have my own webpage, but first and foremost I just enjoy the knowing, and find myself better because of it. I suppose I am strange that way.
