Badass of the Week

Another humorous link via the Art of Manliness (it is under 7 websites every man should be reading link) is the Badass of the Week. This week's offering is St. Moses the Black. A pretty interesting story of a man who raped and pillaged the countryside, and then hid behind the skirts of the Church when he got caught, but who eventually seems to have gotten the idea from somewhere that monks don't punch people in the face. I liked the part that he "suffered greatly from the constant temptations of fornication". Poor guy didn't know what he was getting himself into. St. Moses lived the rest of his life in the monastery and eventually died a martyr's death when the monastery was raided by yet another group of raiders and pillagers. A little reminiscent of the character played by Robert De Niro in The Mission.

Other favorite people of mine featured as Badasses of the Week are Beowulf, Theodore Roosevelt, and Miyamoto Musashi.
